The hearing date has not yet been determined.
Syed, who is currently serving a life sentence, was convicted back in 2000, for killing his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee.
A witness previously stated in an affidavit that she was in the library with Syed when Lee was killed.
Last year, the 'Serial' podcast reopened the case in weekly installments, drawing in millions of listeners. Host Sarah Koenig used the podcast to investigate the case and raised questions about the defense attorney, the late Cristina Gutierrez.
Syed is being represented by Baltimore trial attorney C. Justin Brown.
