Ravens Give Back To Many In Need In Baltimore
The Baltimore Ravens are known for their moves on the field, but Tuesday some of the biggest names on the team made a major inpact in their community at the "Helping Up Mission" in Baltimore City.
Mary Bubala reports Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is leading teammates on a mission that's not about winning, it's about giving.
"It's good to be here, to get out in the community, see some faces and hopefully make it fun for these guys, do some good at the same time," said Flacco.
At least 300 coats were given away, along with scarves and gloves.
Many of the men served by the Helping Up Mission in Baltimore are homeless. Being homeless is something the Ravens' Michael Oher dealt with and overcome with a helping hand.
"It's always going to be a good feeling. I was once in a [similar situation]. To give back and help out is always good," said Oher.
"I got me a Ravens jacket, nice sporty jacket and hat and gloves, it will keep me warm. I am very thankful to the Ravens," said Reggie Holland.
The Raven's Anquan Boldin said he tries to give back every chance he gets.
"It's real motivating for me to see there is a need out there and for us to be able to fill that need. I mean, it's definitely a blessing," said Boldin.
It's a lesson the next generation of football stars are learning from their heroes -- pay it forward.
"It makes me want to be in their position to give back to the community, to people," said Charles Brown.
This was the 7th Annual Coat Give Away at the Helping Up Mission on East Baltimore Street.
Many of the coats were donated from Kathryn's Closet and the Lady Ravens Association.
