Rash Of Burglaries Reported In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating a rash of burglaries in Ocean City's northern residential neighborhoods.

Police say there have been 24 reported burglaries in the Caine Woods and Montego Bay neighborhoods in May. Another four burglaries were reported elsewhere uptown during the month.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that police said they believe one or more suspects may be breaking into homes to seek out prescription drugs, as well as valuables.

Lloyd Martin, an Ocean City Councilman and Caine Woods resident, says detectives have met with community members about the burglaries.

Every burglarized unit was unoccupied. Capt. Mike Colbert says nearly all were seasonal rental properties or vacation homes.
