Police To Patrol Near UMd. Campus During Away Game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say they will be patrolling a highway near the University of Maryland campus during an away basketball game against Duke in case fans gets rowdy afterward.

Police say they will not be on campus but on the Route 1-Knox Road corridor.

The Justice Department's Civil Rights Division is investigating arrests during celebrations following a victory over Duke last March, including a videotape that showed officers in riot gear beating a student.

Corp. Larry Johnson says police will be in the area during Sunday night's game to ensure roadways are safe and students are also safe.
