Police Search 10 Internet Cafes Across Baltimore County Connected To Illegal Electronic Gaming

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ)-- Authorities collected evidence after searching 10 Baltimore County Internet cafes and sweepstakes businesses on Wednesday in connection with operating illegal electronic gaming for money. However, no arrests were made and charges have not been filed.

The year-long investigation involved Baltimore County Police, the U.S. Attorney's Office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security.

Baltimore County Police say detectives were able to play electronic games at the Internet cafes' computer terminals.

The 10 businesses that were searched are: Spin and Win, Click N Spin Computer Club and Wireless Cafe II in Woodlawn; Hot Spot Sweepstakes in Towson; Fun Spot Cafe, Hidden Treasures, Big Dawgs Calling Cards in White Marsh; Wheel of Fortune Phone Card Center and 88 Sweepstakes in Essex; and North Point Internet Cafe in North Point.

This investigation is ongoing.
