O'Malley To Push White House Energy Plan
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley is helping pitch President Barack Obama's national energy plan.
Obama outlined his ideas -- including increased development of oil and gas leases, along with alternative fuels -- earlier this week. He'll visit a UPS shipping center Friday in Landover, where he'll check out vehicles from the "clean fleets" of UPS, AT&T, PepsiCo and Verizon and talk to the companies' employees.
Meanwhile, O'Malley and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will promote the president's proposal Friday afternoon to reporters during a conference call.
O'Malley has offered his own energy agenda, including a call for offshore wind energy development and establishing electric car charging stations throughout the state.
