Officer Hospitalized, 2 Students Arrested After Fight At Perry Hall High School

PERRY HALL, Md. (WJZ) -- A school resource officer was hospitalized and two students were arrested after a fight Wednesday at Perry Hall High School, Baltimore County police said.

Officers responded to the high school at 9:30 a.m. to assist an officer with the altercation, police said. The officer was hospitalized after he was hurt trying to break up the fight, officials said, but he was discharged hours later.

The students, who are both 18-years-old, are charged with assault and disruption of school operations, police said. Video circulated of the fight.

"That's disturbing and it's uncalled for, students are there to learn," said Thomas Hammer of Perry Hall. "It's definitely concerning."

The incident happened one day after several students were pepper-sprayed by police and one was taken to a hospital after a pair of fights broke out at the school.

In a letter to parents, Principal Craig Reed said "fighting in school will not be tolerated. It is dangerous and extremely disruptive to school operations."

The school principal says students who are involved in any of the fights will face discipline based on the school's policy.
