NIH Holding Planning Meeting For Md. Animal Farm
POOLESVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The National Institutes of Health is seeking public views on the future of its animal center near Poolesville.
The agency will hold a public scoping meeting Tuesday night at the Poolesville Town Hall as it begins writing a new, 20-year master plan for the facility.
The farm houses primates, dogs, sheep, swine, cats goats, birds, burros, horses and cattle on 513 acres eight miles southwest of Poolesville near the Potomac River.
It is used for veterinary research.
