MVA Debuts Driver Challenge Test

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- How good of a driver are you? The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration is now daring all drivers to try their hand at Driver Challenge.

Andrea Fujii explains.

There are at least a dozen new laws that passed within the last few years that affect driving. This challenge hopes to help you learn them.

Tevin Marrow is a brand new driver.

"I passed my permit test," Marrow said.

He may now be up to speed on the rules of the road but many other Maryland drivers are not. So the Motor Vehicle Administration has launched its Maryland Driver Challenge. Sample questions are online to improve your street credibility.

"See if you still remember outside all the old road signs that are out there, but do you know the new signs that are out there? And are you up to speed on the current laws?" said Buel Young, MVA.

Fifty percent of new drivers fail the driving test, which Andrea Fujii was able to take and barely passed herself. Half also fail the written test.

"I see some older people driving not too good. I think it's important to refresh yourself," said Tyra Poston.

For new drivers, the new permit test starts next month and now there are 25 questions. There used to be just 20 questions.
