Multiple arrested after large crowd causes disturbance in Towson

Multiple people were arrested Wednesday evening as Baltimore County police worked to disperse a large crowd causing a disturbance in Towson.

Police responded around 9:10 p.m. to the unit block of Allegheny Avenue for a reported disturbance.

Officers arrived to find a large gathering and attempted to disperse the crowd. Multiple arrests were made, and police also helped people safely leave the area.

The incident came two days after a large youth gathering at The Rotunda in Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood led to fights and property damage.

Police said a large group of youths gathered around 4 p.m. Monday, ultimately leading to fights and damaged property in the area. There were also two scooter crashes, including one that resulted in a scooter smashing through the window of Cinnaholic.

Police, along with on-site security and property management teams, worked to disperse the crowd.

"Prior to the event, our security team proactively monitored social media activity and identified a post promoting a meetup at the property," property management wrote to residents and businesses at The Rotunda. "In anticipation of increased activity, we immediately arranged for additional security personnel to be onsite. As attendance grew and behavior became disruptive, we contacted the Baltimore Police Department for assistance."

A spokesperson for property owner MCB Real Estate told CBS News Baltimore that the gathering began as an unaffiliated after-school youth event.
