Md. Man Pleads Guilty To Attempted Rape

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- A Taneytown man has pleaded guilty to attempted rape in the sexual assault of a woman in 2009.

Thirty-nine-year-old Floyd Ray Wagner Jr. entered the plea Monday in Carroll County Circuit Court. He will be sentenced on Jan. 18.

A trial for Wagner's co-defendant, Dale Bigham, is set for next month.

Prosecutors say Wagner and Bigham gave a woman a ride home from a party at Wagner's house on Aug. 15, 2009. Officials say the men stopped in a secluded area outside Taneytown and began to sexually assault the woman. She fled, hid in a cornfield and got a ride from a passing driver.

Prosecutors say Wagner and Bigham chased the woman into Pennsylvania before she escaped to a convenience store.
