Maryland Gets $10M To Widen Road At Fort Meade

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Maryland Department of Transportation will receive $10 million in federal money to widen a road at Fort Meade to reduce traffic congestion.

Maryland Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin made the announcement Tuesday.

The money will be used for Route 175. The road directly accesses a major gate to Fort Meade.

Mikulski says widening the road is critical for the 56,000 people who live and work at Fort Meade.

The project on Route 175 is between Disney and Reece Roads in Anne Arundel County.

The funding comes from the Department of Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant program.
