Man Sentenced To 15 Months For Embezzlement

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Prosecutors say a Potomac man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for embezzling more than $1.7 million from a firm he partly owned.

Dwayne Wells, 50, was also ordered to pay restitution at Monday's sentencing.

According to his plea agreement, Wells, Charles Fash and another partner bought a mechanical engineering firm in Laurel. In 2008, Wells and Fash began lending money from the first to a restaurant owner; when the owner began repaying the loan, Wells and Fash keep the proceeds.

Fash pleaded guilty to his participation in the scheme and was sentenced to probation with three months home confinement.
