Man Arrested On Weapons Charge After Riots Pleads Guilty

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man who seemed to be armed and was arrested by Baltimore Police days after riots crippled the city has pleaded guilty to a federal offense.

Twenty-three-year-old Robert Tucker pleaded guilty to possession of a gun by a previously convicted felon Wednesday in federal court in Baltimore.
According to court documents, on May 4 in the Penn North neighborhood, officers approached Tucker, believing he was armed.

Prosecutors say Tucker ran away, taking a handgun from his waistband area and throwing it to the ground.

Authorities say the gun discharged, but no one was struck.

If U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz accepts the plea agreement, Tucker will be sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison on Dec. 14.
