Man Arrested For Sexually Assaulting 7-Year-Old Birthday Girl

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- A Laurel man is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl while her family was setting up for her birthday party.

Laurel Police arrested 40-year-old Luis Alberto Cruz-Aguilar at a job site in Baltimore County Thursday morning.

Investigators say he was at the victim's home on August 29 to help set up birthday decorations. He lured the child into another room, sexually assaulted her and left the house.

The victim's family knew him only as an acquaintance and did not have his address.

Through surveillance and investigation, Laurel Police found out where Cruz-Aguilar worked and he was arrested without resistance.

During the investigation, Laurel Police detectives learned that Cruz-Aguilar had an outstanding warrant for a fourth-degree sex offense in the 2010 sex assault of a 13-year-old Laurel girl.

Police say he never showed up to court for those offenses and had been on the loose until now.
