Low-Cost Internet Initiative To Be Announced

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland officials and Comcast will be announcing a new low-cost Internet initiative for low-income families.

Gov. Martin O'Malley and Rep. Elijah Cummings will be talking about the Internet Essentials Program in Baltimore on Tuesday.

The initiative aims to help connect families with children to the Internet, if they are eligible for a free lunch under the National School Lunch Program.

David Cohen, executive vice president for Comcast, and Tom Coughlin, Comcast's regional senior vice president, also are scheduled to attend the event at Mergenthaler Vocational Technical School.
