Longtime Stevenson University President To Retire
STEVENSON, Md. (AP) -- After having steered Stevenson University's evolution from a former women's junior college, the school's president has announced that he plans to retire next year.
Kevin J. Manning said in a message sent to the campus Thursday that he will be stepping down from his position in charge of the private Baltimore County school in June 2017. The 71-year-old president has held his position for 16 years.
During Manning's tenure, the school opened a residential campus in Owings Mills in 2004 and changed its name from Villa Julie College to Stevenson University in 2008.
Under Manning, the university's enrollment has doubled to about 4,200 at its campuses in Stevenson and Owings Mills.
Manning says he is proud of his accomplishments and humbled by the dedication of so many he worked with.
