Kayaker Rescued After Being Stranded In Potomac

SANDY HOOK, Md. (WJZ) -- A kayaker stranded in freezing water is rescued from the Potomac River.

Rescuers found the 54-year-old man in waist-deep water clinging to a rock to avoid being swept downstream.

He was about 75 yards offshore, just west of the U.S. Rt. 340 bridge in Sandy Hook.

The victim was hoisted into a rescue helicopter. He's now being treated for suspected hypothermia.
