It's Finally Here! Ravens Fans Beyond Excited For Super Bowl Match Against 49ers
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- After weeks--and some would say years--of waiting, it's finally here!
For the second time in Baltimore Ravens history, the team is going to the Super Bowl! The Ravens will take on the 49ers in what's being billed as the "Harbowl." The last time the two brothers faced off, the Ravens won.
We're hoping that history repeats.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the game and what they say is sure to be another great Ravens victory.
"Ravens over 49ers! Book it!" said Rodger Daugherty.
"There is NO love like Ravens love! This momentum won't be slowed! Glad it ended with the brothers in the big dance...Dern shame Jim's gonna have to sit this one out. This time, the trophy is coming back to the 410!" said Angie Wilkins.
"Never say die! After those three losses [Redskins, Steelers, Texans], we win as a team. Yes, yes, yes, yes!" said Chrisey Northcraft.
"As a huge Baltimore Ravens fan, I wish them the best of luck today in the XLVII Harbowl! Play hard, boys! Make us proud! Go Ray-vens!" said Sarah Lough.
"Alicia Keys is singing the National Anthem. Jennifer Hudson and Sandy Hook Chorus are singing America the Beautiful. Beyonce is reuniting with Destiny's Child. Ray Lewis is taking his final dance. The Ravens are in the freaking Super Bowl! This is going to be the best Super Bowl ever!" said Sherna Johnson.
But it's not just Marylanders who are excited. Former Baltimore resident Grover Murrell is celebrating in Florida. He's been a Ravens fan since the franchise came to Charm City.
"I've been waiting for this day to come again since 2000. And here we are! I'll be rooting for our Baltimore Ravens all the way from Tampa! Hometown pride. GO RAVENS!" said Grover Murrell.
While it may look like the Ravens are the underdogs, Murrell isn't the only one cheering for the Ravens from out of state.
"Thrilled to be representing Raven Nation at home in Clemmons, N.C. Baltimore in the Super Bowl means one more evening of chicken wings, french fries and fun with our pint-sized football fan. Here's to many touchdown dances around the living room!" said Amanda Beck.
Some fans even headed to New Orleans to be there in person.
"I booked a one way flight to New Orleans. Do I have a ticket? No. Do I have a way home? No. But I'm going to the Super Bowl," said Tami Payne.
It's been estimated that Ravens fans outnumber 49ers fans nine to one in the Big Easy.
Fans are excited but are also sad to know this is the last time they will see Ray Lewis on the gridiron.
