Inmate Dies at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Officials say an inmate has died at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
The Fairfax County Police Department said in a statement that a 53-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday morning. Police say efforts to revive the man failed and he was pronounced dead.
Police say the man had been incarcerated at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center since Sept. 15, 2015 and was assigned to a unit where inmates are checked every 30 minutes. Police say nothing about the man's death appears suspicious, but a routine investigation is being conducted.
Police say the man's name is being withheld until his family can be notified. Police say the medical examiner will determine the man's cause and manner of death.
