Hundreds Gather To Remember Teen Killed In Owings Mills

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)--A Baltimore County community is mourning the death of a teen athlete killed in a crash this week.

Amy Yensi has more on how friends and family are honoring Tyree Brown.

"Every time he walked through that door he's got something new to tell me, something new to tell me," said April Brown, as hundred gathered to remember her son on Wednesday night.

Tyree Brown II was struck along Lakeside Blvd. near Common Brook Road in Owings Mills on Sunday afternoon.

"He started to run across Lakeside Blvd and was struck by a Honda Civic that was traveling westbound," said Baltimore County Police Corporal John Wachter.

The 16-year-old was taken to the hospital where he later died. Police say the driver stayed at the scene.

On Wednesday night, an emotional candle light vigil drawing hundreds of people who came out to remember Tyree.

He was a sophomore football player and track sprinter at Milford Mill Academy.

"(Tyree) was dedicated to the sport. I can't say it enough. He worked hard day in and day out and as a mother all I could do was try to protect him, all the time," said April Brown.

Tyree had been visiting relatives in Owings Mills. His family says it was like his second home.

They're distraught his latest visit, is his also his last.

His father, Tyree Brown, says the late teen, was close to his four sisters.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to collect donations for funeral expenses.

This crash remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Crash Team.
