Hagerstown Stadium Support May Be In Jeopardy

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A proposed sports and events complex in downtown Hagerstown looks to be getting less support when a new city council takes office.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that two newly elected councilmembers, Penny Nigh and Don Munson, are against the current proposal.

The $37 million project calls for a multiuse complex that would be located downtown and funded by money from a private donor and from the state.

Nigh and Munson both say they'd prefer to see the existing Municipal Stadium be rehabilitated instead of constructing a new stadium downtown.

Two other incumbent councilmembers support the project while another incoming member is undecided.
