Former Officer Gets 5 Years For Holding Gun To Man's Head

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland judge has sentenced a former police officer to five years in prison for holding a gun to a man's head.

Jenchesky Santiago was sentenced Friday after being convicted by a judge last month of two counts of assault, a handgun offense and misconduct in office.

Last month, Prince George's County Police released cellphone video of the incident showing Santiago holding a gun to a man's head and ordering him to get back inside a car. Prosecutors say Santiago had accused the man of parking illegally when he had not. No one was injured in the May 2014 incident in Bowie.

Santiago was suspended without pay when he was indicted in March. Police spokeswoman Julie Parker says Santiago was fired last month.
