Teen Facing Gun Charges After Allegedly Shooting At Nephews

LEWES, Del. (AP) — Police say a Delaware teen is facing charges after allegedly firing a shotgun at his nephews.

Eighteen-year-old Jhareed Ayers of Lewes is accused of firing one round from a sawed-off shotgun at his three teenage nephews Monday afternoon at a home in Lewes. No one was injured.

Police say there have been ongoing issues between Ayers and his nephews.

Ayers was located and arrested Wednesday afternoon. He is charged with possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm within 10 years of a prior felony conviction, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, reckless endangering and resisting arrest.

Ayers was being held in custody in lieu of $10,000 secured bond. It was not immediately clear whether he has a lawyer.
