BLOG: Staying Warm

We will see some morning fog linger across the area this morning as there was light winds and plenty of low-level moisture around last night. While this occurred, we were close and will continue to be close to a weak area of low pressure that is situated along an ill-defined stationary boundary offshore. The weak low will lift northward today and thus the most shower activity will be located at or near the close with the chance of showers decreasing dramatically as you head westward into drier air forced into this region due to the cyclonic flow around the huge upper-level low located well to the west across the Midwest. It will continue to be warm and humid.

The weak low should lift away from the area tonight, so the chance of any showers should decrease as the night goes by. There will likely be areas of fog that develops again thanks to light winds and plenty of low-level moisture. Temperatures will continue to be above normal for this time of year.

The drying trend should continue tomorrow, with just a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as there is riding aloft and divergent flow at the surface. This is due to a nose of surface high pressure coming down from the north. Thus temperatures may nudge a bit higher thanks to more sunshine than today and should be right around 80. There will likely be fog in the morning yet again, and this pattern is likely to continue through midweek.

For Tuesday and Wednesday we will see the large upper-level low that had been well to the west affect the region. Thus, these couple of days should see more in the way of shower or thunderstorm activity as compared to tomorrow. We will see some self-destructing sunshine each day, especially in the morning. Temperatures will be warmer than normal with foggy areas to start the day.

A rather strong cold front with some very chilly air behind it should pass through the region Friday with some showers associated with it.
