BLOG: Hello Summer - At Least Temporarily
A cold front is moving through the state. There were some showers and thunderstorms ahead of it earlier today, but most of the action is down across Virginia this evening. Some of those will hold together as it moves into southern Maryland. Elsewhere, other than an isolated shower and thunderstorm, most people are just noticing the return of heat and humidity - at least for today.
It did top out at 91 degrees this afternoon. When you factor in the high dew points/humidity, it feels like it is in the upper 90s here in Baltimore and nearly 100 degrees in DC and Ocean City. This round of heat is really only going to last for one day, because the cold front moving through is going to knock both the heat and high humidity/dew points right back down by tomorrow.
Wednesday and Thursday will be beautiful days with mild temperatures and low humidity. Then, both will start building again in time for the holiday weekend. We should be close to 90 degrees on Friday and then back in the 90s for the weekend. At the same time, a new storm will approach the area. It will lay out just to the north of us on Saturday, but will be close enough for the chance of a shower or thunderstorm. The front will then stay in the area Sunday and Monday, keeping the chance of a shower or thunderstorm around. These are not all day rain events, but may not be completely dry days either. Keep checking in with WJZ and WJZ.com, and we will keep you on top of this holiday weekend weather as we get closer.
