BLOG: Actual Winter Day

Go figure, it actually feels and looks like a winter day today.

A Clipper storm dumped a few inches of snow as it tracked from Kentucky down through Virginia. This storm produced light snow in extreme southern Maryland and the lower Eastern Shore before it moved out to sea. For those of us north of that storm, we were close enough that gusty northwest winds have been carrying scattered rain and snow showers across the state. Anything out there Monday evening will die down overnight as the responsible storm moves farther away.

High pressure will bring clearing skies Monday night and sunshine Tuesday. This high is going to dominate the forecast for the next few days. It will keep a chill in the air Tuesday as it passes over us before it draws warmer air up from the south when it sets up to our southeast. Highs will still be below average in the 40s Tuesday before jumping way back above average to the 60s starting Wednesday.

Another storm will move our way starting Thursday. Clouds will start to thicken up later in the day, then some rain could arrive Thursday night. It will continue into Friday before this storm gets out of here. Cooler air will follow, but it won't be brutally cold and won't last long.
