BLOG: Heating Up Again
While we're noticing a fairly large complex of thunderstorms early this morning that extend from Iowa and northern Illinois all the way to western Pennsylvania, we do feel that the rain associated with it will remain to the NORTH of the Greater Baltimore Area today. This large cluster of storms has led to some torrential rain in southeastern Michigan, with some suburbs of Detroit picking up more than 5 inches of rain overnight.
The leading edge of some humid air is the cause for the outbreak of showers and thunderstorms, and our best chances for picking up some of them in Maryland will be later on tomorrow and tomorrow night. Even on Saturday, with a front located nearby, we cannot rule out an afternoon or nighttime thunderstorms. Temperatures will be mostly in the 90s the next three days, and it appears as if tomorrow (Friday) will be the hottest.
By Sunday, there should be two, separate zones that will be getting rain in the eastern half of North America. One of them will be in the Great Lakes and in eastern Canada, because there will be cool front pressing eastward. Farther to the south, there should be some fairly widespread activity in the Tennessee Valley and the Carolinas. While we are carrying the mention of a thunderstorm in Sunday's forecast, it is possible that most places (except those located well to the SOUTH of Baltimore) will be rain-free. Next week (and the new month) will be getting off to a hot start.
Have a good day!!!
