Bethune-Cookman Surges Past Coppin State 88-80
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Garrius Holloman scored 22 points and Bethune-Cookman used a second-half surge to defeat Coppin State 88-80 Thursday night in a game that was delayed an hour because of a power outage during the first half.
Ricky Johnson, who had gone seven games without a 3-pointer, was 5 of 9 from long range for 16 points and Anthony Breeze added 15 for the Wildcats in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Bethune-Cookman (15-16, 11-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led 29-27 at the 6:07 mark when the power went out for 42 minutes.
The teams warmed up after power was restored, then played through four ties and three lead changes until the Eagles (14-15, 9-7) took a 43-42 advantage into halftime.
Following the 10th tie of the game at 51-51, the Wildcats used a 10-2 run, including 3-pointers by Kevin Dukes and Johnson, to pull away.
Tony Gallo's 25 points led Coppin State.
