Best Italian Restaurants In Baltimore

Home of Little Italy and a thriving community of foodies and restaurateurs, Baltimore City is a place where a large variety of Italian delis, eateries, and fancy restaurants all compete for the top spot in the hearts and stomachs of Italian food lovers. Understandably, it is not easy to pick the best among these, however, the five listed below have managed to rise head and shoulders above the competition in terms of the variety and flavor of the available cuisine.
Aldo's Ristorante Italiano
306 S. High St.
Baltimore, MD 21202
(410) 727-0700

It's not difficult to put Aldo's at the top of the list of quality Italian restaurants in Baltimore. It would easily make a similar list of restaurants in Maryland, and, according to John Mariani of Esquire Magazine, is "one of the best Italian restaurants in America."

What makes Aldo's such a first class location for exquisite Italian food? Well, the first part of this is the atmosphere. Aldo Vitale, the owner and head chef, began his career as a cabinet-maker. It was in this capacity that he hand-crafted much of the furniture and furnishings which appoint the dining areas of the restaurant itself. It is with this same care to hand-crafted excellence which he and his co-owner/chef Sergio Vitale devote to the menu; bringing the heritage of regional Italian cuisine to the heart of Baltimore for Marylanders to experience for themselves.

Di Pasquale's Italian Marketplace And Deli
3700 Gough St.
Baltimore, MD 21224

www.dipasquales.com

Di Pasquale's has a lot to offer lovers of Italian food. From their fresh goods store, where patrons can stop in and shop the marketplace for Italian goodies to stock their kitchens, to their deli, where the hungry, on-the-go lunch crowd can swing by and get a hearty Italian deli meal to go, to their cafe, where those who care to dine may sit down and enjoy the fresh bread and deli-cut meats on the spot. While Baltimore has a good many Italian delis, Di Pasquale's has made quite a name for themselves in terms of the freshness of their food, the quality of their service, and the out-of-this-world flavorful foods they craft for the public.

Dalesio's Restaurant Of Little Italy
829 Eastern Ave.
Baltimore, MD 21202

Cinghiale

Baltimore, MD 21202
(410) 547-8282

While most restaurants strive to deliver patrons the finest in classic or traditional Italian cooking, Cinghiale brings its customers the latest in modern Italian flair. As a result, their menu may reflect some interesting Italian dishes not found on most other such menus. The restaurant itself is a fusion between an Italian wine bar and dining room, designed to be a comfortable meeting place inspired by the warmth of 1950's Bologna. The food itself is exceptional enough to have won the Open Table Diner's Choice Award for 2014. Stop on by Cinghiale and check it out for yourself.

Sotto Sopra
405 N. Charles St.
Baltimore, MD 21201
(410) 625-0534
www.sottosoprainc.com

Sotto Sopra occupies a prime location, right at the entrance to the cultural Mount Vernon district coming directly from Baltimore's treasured Inner Harbor. As an Italian restaurant in Baltimore, Sotto Sopra does a masterful job of incorporating local seafood ingredients from the Chesapeake into traditional Italian cuisine to give patrons the perfect blend of Italian goodness and Baltimore flavor. There is nothing inauthentic about the recipes, either. Chef and owner Riccardo Bosio brings his native food to the shores of Maryland with the bounty of the Maryland shores. All this served under the roof of a grand ballroom building, which still glows with its 19th century grandeur.
