Baltimore Deals With Another Dose Of Winter Weather
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- As the sun started to fall, so did the snow in Maryland. All of that snow kept road crews very busy Tuesday night.
Kelly McPherson has more on the area roadways.
Just about everyone in Maryland is seeing snow outside and dealing with its effects.
"We usually go to the gym and get two, three hours in but now we got 45 to an hour because we're trying to get a workout, get to the supermarket and get in the house before it gets bad," said Deshawn Barrett.
Salt trucks and plows were out in West Baltimore, and along Rt. 70 in Frederick, driving was becoming tricky in spots.
"The roads are slippery, they're a little slushy. I'd advise you to take your time to get to where you've got to go," said Antwain Bell.
The State Highway Administration has been ready for however many inches actually fall.
"Salt brine is finished right now. That was the pre-treatment. Now we're just in complete salt operations. We have 34,000 tons available throughout the state, so we're in good shape, salt-wise," said Charlie Gischlar, State Highway Administration.
Non-native Marylanders question decisions about schools closing for a few inches.
"I remember literally the blizzard of '78 or '79, going to school. Snow was up to [my waist]. I was taking the bus to school, trucking on," said Michael Carter.
Drivers are advised to give themselves extra time Wednesday morning.
