Baltimore comedian Reggie Carroll killed in Mississippi shooting, suspect arrested

Baltimore comedian Reginald "Reggie" Carroll was killed in a shooting in Mississippi, according to the Southaven Police Department

Police said officers responded to Burton Lane in Southaven regarding a shooting on Wednesday, Aug. 20. 

Once on the scene, officers found a 52-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later identified as Carroll. 

Police said Carroll was taken to Regional One Hospital in Memphis, where he died from his injuries.

According to police, a man is in custody and has been charged with Carroll's murder. 

Who was Reggie Carroll?

According to IMDb, Carroll was a comedian, actor, producer, and host, best known for his series, Knockout Kings of Comedy. He also made guest appearances in programs including Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers.

In a social media post, the production group Mobtown Comedy mourned Carroll's loss and expressed gratitude for the support Carroll gave them.

"The Mobtown family and the Baltimore comedy community are very saddened by this loss of one of our city's great talents. Sending our prayers to Reggie's family," the group said in part.

The Washington, D.C. based radio station WHUR 96.3 made a social media post Monday.

"The comedy world is mourning the loss of Baltimore's own Reginald 'Reggie' Carroll, who was tragically shot and killed in Memphis while on tour with Katt Williams. Carroll, known as the 'Knockout King of Comedy,' leaves behind a legacy of laughter, fearless performances, and love for his community. One suspect is in custody," the outlet wrote.
