BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore City schools say two students were arrested after administrators were notified that they were in a bathroom with an unloaded handgun.

A statement from the school system says the students were arrested on Monday at Renaissance Academy. The incident occurred during the morning class change.

The names of the students were not released, but the school system says the disciplinary process is underway.

The school system says that the students face extended suspension or expulsion, as well as possible referral to police.
