2 Drivers Die After Striking Trees In Md.

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (AP) -- Police in Maryland are investigating two fatal accidents in which drivers struck trees.

The first occurred late Saturday night in Montgomery County. The second was early Sunday morning in Howard County.

In the first crash, police say Immar Enrique Serpas, 30, of Gaithersburg was heading south on Montgomery Village Avenue when he veered off the road and struck a tree in the median. Serpas was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 3:15 p.m., Howard County police say Kelly Jordon Duffy, 23, veered off northbound Maryland Route 32 and struck a tree. Duffy was not wearing a seatbelt, and she died at the scene. Police are looking into the possibility that she may have fallen asleep at the wheel. She lived in Windsor Mill.
