Waymo driverless car gets stuck in Atlanta flash flooding

Heavy rain and flash flooding caused major problems across Atlanta, shutting down parts of the Downtown Connector near Baker Street and leaving several cars stranded in rising water. One driver climbed onto the roof of a submerged vehicle before being rescued. Floodwaters also trapped a Waymo driverless car on North Avenue, prompting the company to pause service in Atlanta until conditions improved.
