Dog killed in Cherokee County house fire; investigators make arson arrest
Authorities have arrested a suspect accused of setting a Cherokee County home on fire, killing a dog left inside.
Following an investigation, Cherokee County fire officials arrested Jackie Ingram on a charge of first-degree arson.
Ingram is accused of setting fire to a home on Bells Ferry Road early Monday. Fire officials said they received a report of the fire shortly before 1 a.m.
When firefighters arrived, they found the home destroyed. The homeowner escaped without injury, and no one else was inside except for a dog that died in the fire.
Ingram remains in custody. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the fire or other fire-related crimes to come forward.
