Deadly Kroger parking lot crash in DeKalb County: Car hits pedestrian on sidewalk, kills driver
A routine afternoon shopping trip turned deadly outside an Atlanta-area grocery store Wednesday when a crash sent a car careening onto a sidewalk, killing one person and injuring two others.
DeKalb County Police responded around 3:20 p.m. to a Kroger in the 2300 block of Wesley Chapel Road, where investigators say a driver's vehicle struck another car that was parked in front of the store.
The force of the impact pushed the parked car onto the sidewalk, where it struck a pedestrian before coming to rest against the building.
The driver of the parked vehicle died at the scene. The pedestrian who was struck and the driver of the vehicle that caused the crash were both seriously injured and taken to a hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
