Raw: Dash camera video shows reckless teen's spectacular Santa Rosa crash during CHP pursuit

SANTA ROSA -- Video posted on social media over the weekend shows the violent Santa Rosa collision that hospitalized a family of three and ended the CHP pursuit of a teen driving at speeds over 100 mph Saturday afternoon.

The crash on northbound Highway 101 in Santa Rosa occurred as CHP officers were chasing down an 18-year-old driving a Ford Mustang with a fake license plate reading "WILL RUN" who had previous run-ins with law enforcement, authorities said. The pursuit on Saturday began when officers tried to pull over the black Mustang with the distinctive license plate in Rohnert Park for speeding, but the driver refused to comply and sped away.

The suspect eventually headed north towards Santa Rosa on U.S. Highway 101.

The video posted by Instagram user @2008sap shows 18-year-old Healdsburg resident Marcus Burton driving the vehicle at a high rate of speed on the far left shoulder of Highway 101 near the Mendocino Avenue exit when he appears to clip the median barrier before plowing into the back end of an SUV in the left lane.

According to CHP, both vehicles suffered major damage in the collision and the passengers of the SUV, a child and two adults -- were injured.

They were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The injured parties were not identified by CHP, but reports indicate the SUV was occupied by a family.

The CHP said a 17-year-old passenger in the Mustang was uninjured and released to his parents.

A second clip that was not posted on social media showed Burton being placed into custody. It also showed a second person getting out of the Mustang. CHP confirmed the additional passenger in the suspect vehicle was a 17-year-old male minor. He was uninjured and released to his parents.
