Woman with BB gun fatally shot by officers under Temple Street overpass: LAPD

Los Angeles Police Department officers fatally shot a woman in the Silver Lake/Rampart area Wednesday night.

At about 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, Los Angeles police officers from the Rampart Division responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon under the Temple Street overpass on Silver Lake Blvd.

A caller told police a female pointed a revolver at a passerby, the Los Angeles Police Dept. said in a statement Thursday morning.

Police said arriving officers found a woman described as in her 40s who produced a handgun and pointed it at them. Officers then shot the woman.

Los Angeles Fire Dept. paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No officers were injured.

Police said a carbon-dioxide-powered revolver BB/pellet gun was recovered at the scene.

The shooting was being investigated by oversight authorities.
