Tonight, 35-year-old Jessica Bowie of Albany, New York is behind bars after authorities say they stopped her plans to blow up the New York State Capitol building. They allege she was seen on surveillance cameras at least five times, taking pictures of the Capitol, discussing her plans with an FBI source. She said, quote, "I want to destroy as much of the building as possible and kill the senators while they are meeting."

Today law enforcement say Bowie was radicalized online by ISIS and that the plot was deeply disturbing. Ms. Bowie's alleged plot was serious. It was dangerous. And thanks to the partnerships on the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, it was foiled.

The investigation began a month ago, according to the criminal complaint. She was seen on camera at an upstate New York Home Depot allegedly buying materials for an explosive device they say that she planned to deliver to the Capitol in a DoorDash bag. It is unclear if she acted alone. Today's announcement will have a chilling effect on anyone in this country who is being radicalized or considering acts of violence and on our enemies whose governments support death to America.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer said the incident underscores why the country can't let its guard down. They found this evil person, and they stopped her in her tracks so she could do no damage. Bowie allegedly planned to leave the country after the attack, with plans to return and target Times Square in New York on New Year's Eve and the White House. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Her attorney, Tony, had no comment. Meg, thank you very much.
