CBS News congressional correspondent Nikole Killion is following this from Capitol Hill. Now that the government has been funded, where do things stand with negotiations on DHS and ICE? Well, lawmakers have 10 days to try to reach a deal on DHS funding and, more specifically, these reforms with respect to ICE conduct. And this comes on the heels of a hearing, rather, that Democrats held just yesterday where they heard testimony from several individuals who say that they suffered abuse at the hands of federal agents. That includes the family of Renee Good, including her two brothers who spoke about her killing. Take a listen. The prayers and words of support have truly brought us comfort, and it is meaningful that these sentiments have come from people of all colors, faiths, and ideals. That is a perfect reflection of Renee, who carried peace, patience, and love for others wherever she went. She had a way of making you feel understood even when you didn't have the words yet. She didn't just listen. She saw you. So it's testimony like this that Democrats say is why they are pushing for these reforms with respect to ICE, whether that is prohibiting masks, requiring that the agents wear body cameras, and making sure there's an end to roving patrols. Now, Republicans have been receptive to some of this, but they have pushed back on some Democratic proposals like requiring judicial warrants. So, again, not a lot of time for them to resolve their differences. But those negotiations are underway in earnest here on Capitol Hill.
