Rubbing salt. It's amazing, Vlad.
VLADIMIR DUTHIERS:
00:01:36
The trouble with tribbles, Dan Malkoff. Yeah. Well, I'm not falling out of the vents here, so yeah.
ADRIANA DIAZ:
00:01:47
Is this Deep Star Trek?
VLADIMIR DUTHIERS:
00:01:48
That's Deep Star Trek. The thing is. Star Trek, it's for everybody. It's like these characters that are outsiders, and they're trying to be more human. We saw that with Spock and then with Data and then with Odo, and then on Voyagerand Academy, now with the Doctor who-- you guys, I have a surprise for you. Bob Picardo joins us live right here. How are you? Very well, David. Thanks. Good to see you. And Vlad and Adriana, you gotta come on the Star Trek cruise.
VLADIMIR DUTHIERS:
00:02:23
Oh, my gosh. It looks amazing. Thanks that's all I need. I'll be there. It's really cool to be here because talk to me about this is a different thing than a Star Trek Convention, where you may have to go up and pay for autographs, and that's all the interaction you get. On this cruise-- It is total immersion. All of the actors perform for the fans. I did a show two days ago, and William Shatner came to see it and said that I was a great entertainer. That was the high point of my life, certainly, my Star Trek years. But the fans have dinner with you. They see you on the elevator. They see me at the bar. Yes, they absolutely do. And I wear a hat sometimes because my most characteristic feature, as we know, is the moment I put a hat on, I go dark on Google Earth. But they all know me well because I've been on many of these cruises. The Star Trek cruise is the most fun you can have standing up, I guarantee.

I love it. Vlad, you were a fan of Voyager. And when they got stuck in the Delta quadrant, the caretaker pulled you guys out there, and they didn't have a doctor. Right. The organic doctor is killed in the pilot, and the emergency medical hologram, who was a computer program designed for emergency use only, suddenly becomes the full-time physician. And he's not happy about it. He's a very cranky computer program.
DAVE MALKOFF:
00:03:44
You remember that, Vlad. It's AI medicine. It's the beginning of AI medicine.
BOB PICARDO:
00:03:48
Exactly. We were at the forefront 30 years ago. I was the first example of artificial intelligence in medicine. But that's always been the case-- We lead the way on Star Trek. That's always been the case with Star Trek. So many of the things that, going back to the original series, that were revelations for children and people who were watching that show are now part of our daily lives. Yeah, exactly. So I want to ask the question that moms and grandmothers-- I was just thinking, with Vlad, thinking about our moms. Moms across the country and grandmothers want to know, how's the food? How's the what? How's the food? Oh, the food is great, and as much as you want. I mean, some people have six meals a day. I've cut down to four. Well, the thing is, it's replicator food, and it's synthehol, so you don't get drunk. And the replicator sushi is not that great, but I mean, it is what it is. These are all Star Trekjokes, Mom. Thank you. Thank you. I was like, I'm looking Vlad, I'm like, replicator food? I think that's amazing. All right, Malkoff, next time I see you here at the Broadcast Center, we're going to get into position, and you're going to cue the music. And me and you are going to do a gorn face off using our Kirk Fu. No, I'm going to do this really slow. Really slow. It's going to waylay me. We have a brand new episode of Starfleet Academy. I love it. Coming up this Thursday. This Thursday, and it features my character, the Doctor. So, Vlad, if you're a Star Trekfan, don't miss it. I will not be missing. I watch every episode. Dave, thank you both so much for being with us. Guys, we really appreciate it. What a wonderful moment. Have fun.
