New York City and some parts of the Northeast, are now bracing for a major snowstorm. The area could see up to 8 inches of snow, which would be, get this, the most snowfall there since 2022. CBS News New York meteorologist Tony Sadiku has our forecast. Good morning, Shanelle. We've got an active day of weather for any post-Christmas travel, anywhere from the Great Lakes to the northeast. Ice storm warnings just east of Pittsburgh will mean treacherous travel across portions of the I-80 corridor. And a winter storm warning for New York City could see its biggest snow in nearly four years. Look at this as it develops, already a messy start to the morning in Michigan. This rolls through Buffalo to Pittsburgh. All of this rolls through to Philly, down to the south. New York City, by this evening, get ready for moderate to heavy snow that can accumulate pretty quickly. Inch or two an hour snowfall rates will mean treacherous conditions on the roads. Poor visibility, slick travel right through the overnight hours. This starts to let up a little bit after that, but this will be a lot to shovel. So pace yourself. We're thinking about a quarter inch of ice or more. So definitely rough travel but also will likely see power outages too in the zone. Meanwhile, 6 to 10 inches of snow can fall in New York City. Higher elevations, expect travel delays and issues there. West coast, one more day of flood watches across much of California. Moderate to heavy rain could still mean some localized flooding in the higher terrain, but we are expecting improvements. The weather starts to clear up and dry out heading into the weekend. Meanwhile, big warmth across much of the middle of the country could challenge records. Oklahoma City to Memphis, more warmth on tap Saturday. That will fuel another storm developing in the middle of the country by Sunday afternoon. Shanelle?
