New members of Congress get crash course on power and legislative limits

Members of the 116th Congress inherited the shutdown as soon as they were sworn in. Nancy Cordes followed three lawmakers – Michigan Democrat Elissa Slotkin, Texas Republican Dan Crenshaw, New Mexico Democrat Deb Haaland – trying to find their place on Capitol Hill, while Congress struggles to find a way out of the longest partial government shutdown in history.
