Dozens of residents confronting ICE agents operating in communities in south Minneapolis. CBS News Minnesota reports that chemical irritants had been deployed and at least three people were seen in handcuffs. CBS News Minnesota reporter Jonah Kaplan is at the scene and spoke to people who were there. This was really a tense situation to be around. We're at 29th and Pillsbury, and right down here is the Karmel Market. And, of course, this is south Minneapolis, a diverse area and also an area that has brought a lot of support from community members to their Somali neighbors. And speaking with the people that were out here, that's what they said they were doing today, showing support. And they were doing that by confronting federal agents, presumably from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They did not have uniforms that said "ICE" on. It usually just said "federal agents." Some did have those letters. But also, some had flags from other states they were representing. That was kind of a tip to at least the people here showing that these agents, these federal agents, are not from Minnesota. Regardless, though, again, a very tense situation. You had those agents right up against the faces of many of the protesters here. And now you can see the area clearing out. But we're going to find out soon what operations did happen here, and we're working to confirm whether or not there were any injuries or arrests. In Minneapolis, Jonah Kaplan, WCCO News.
