Watch: Carlee Russell charged for kidnapping hoax
Alabama authorities announced Friday that nursing student Carlee Russell, 25, had been charged with falsely reporting to law enforcement and falsely reporting an incident after she claimed she had been kidnapped earlier this month. Both charges are misdemeanors that carry a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $6,000 fine, the Hoover, Alabama, police chief said.
