(SINGING) I want to feel the heat with somebody The press wasn't dancing. I was like, the only one partying. I was like, I love this song. So that was Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry. Kelly, we saw him in Ragtime. He did the honors opening the Met Gala on Monday night. It is, of course, the world's greatest-- well, what they call the biggest night in fashion, with the greatest designers. And they did not disappoint on fashion's biggest night. The eye-popping event benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. And it draws the biggest names in music, film, art, and, of course, fashion. And they all took things to the next level. This morning, we're going to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to cover the Met Gala. Watch this. [UPBEAT DANCE MUSIC] The biggest night in fashion, for me, started at 10:00 AM, with research and help choosing emojis for props that would help get celebrities talking. I like the cheeky smile. I like the heart eyes. You need a flame. You definitely need a flame. [GASPS] A flame. Then it was time to be touched by angels-- makeup artist RaeDawn Johnson and hairstylist Giselle Modeste. Her dress is very inspired of like, Bridgerton, in my opinion-- more modern take. And so I just wanted to give her like, very blushy, blushy cheeks. And my inspiration is the more hair, the better it looks, all of it. This is the first time I have ever had extensions, too, in my hair. So this is like, exciting. I'm going to be so annoying and just like, whipping my hair everywhere.

--made by scenic designer Rob Odorisio. And just like that, it was time to go. We're ready. And after a heartfelt sendoff with my producer and partner in crime, Myra Zuleta, we were on our way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the fans were already out and security was tight. We were sent to a press holding room, where I met our CBS team. Here's the team. Finally, it was time for our first peek at the carpet. Do we think it's going to be cream, based on this tent? I hope so, it'll match my suit.

It felt like, stone steps to a secret garden. Just ignore all the press packed in. Hey, so this is the situation. We're tight, with our friends. Hi, this is Emily. We're becoming besties very quickly. --from Access Hollywood. Before we knew it, the Gala was underway, with celebrities like, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman and her daughter, and the queen herself, Beyoncé, followed by a train of feathers. [INTERPOSING VOICES] Guess who's here? Beyoncé, ladies and gentlemen. Which emoji represents how you feel right now? Let me see. I feel like a peach. Because I feel like my booty look good. What are you most excited about? What are you most nervous about? Well, to be honest with you, what I'm most excited about is exactly what's happening right now, which is just this iconic walk and these stairs. It's cool. Lindsey, you made us all so proud at the Olympics. I came into the Olympics as number one at 41 years old. And I proved to myself that I could do it. And even though I fell, I'm back up. And these guys are here to help me. And it means so much to me. I'm 41. And I was like, she's out there killing it. And you were fearless. And after a long, exciting night, that capped off with Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's arrival, it was time to head home but not without a souvenir. Wow.

What was it? Who is the designer? Doesn't matter. Here it Is, The feathers from Beyoncé's cape, ladies and gentlemen. I know. Maybe she touched this. I mean, obviously. [INTERPOSING VOICES] She was amazing. Everyone, all the celebrities, we asked, who are you excited to see? Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé. It's amazing that she is, also, like, that big celebrity even for them. I want to thank Julia Fleischer, our colleague, who wrote and produced that piece, with Daniel Drake, the editor. They were amazing. It was so fun. Yeah, I love that we got to see the behind the scenes. Because, I think, the Met Gala can seem so sort of unattainable, right? But like, seeing you cover and bringing that little bit of Adriana special sauce, thank you for sharing that. It was very fun, very tight back there. And you, literally, had to sip just a tiny bit of water. Because there were no bathroom breaks. That's the tea. That's the behind the scenes. Yes. OK. You brought the paddles-- We got the paddles here. --from the piece. So should we do like, our unsolicited opinions? Yeah, let's rate. Let's rate some of the looks. OK, I want to start with Sabrina Carpenter. I thought that she was absolutely fantastic. I'm going to give her a heart eyes. OK, so her dress, the theme was like, fashion is art. [GASPS] How dare you? Her dress was film strips from the 1954 film Sabrina. Oh, Sabrina,OK. It is art. It's on theme. That is very cool. I liked her look. But I feel like, we always see her in that kind of like, bodysuit situation. Because it's iconic. OK. Who did you like? I loved Paloma Elsesser. She is a model, and there she is. Oh, fire-- I'm going to give her all the great emojis-- fire emoji, heart-eye emoji. Fire. She was spectacular. Her dress, actually, was made out of 30 vintage dresses-- Oh, wow, [INAUDIBLE]. --that were purchased on eBay. And she just, to me, looked like, a painter's palette. She was gorgeous. Should we do some of the ones that we didn't like? Because they're telling us that we're coming up on the end of our segment. I hate to say it. Let's bring up Heidi Klum. Yes! Heidi Klum. OK, you're going to see it in a second. I mean, she committed to the theme, but what? It was too much. To me, this is Heidi at Halloween, which we all love. But Halloween is in October. Like, this is May. Yes, but the thing is, Heidi is so gorgeous, that I love that like, for her to dress up, she's like, let me just give them ugly. Because that's fun for her. Because she's so spectacular. She's like, I look amazing all the time. OK. All right. Benito, Bad Bunny, where are you at? Bad Bunny, I was screaming, Benito! He looks like, Will Ferrell in Zoolander. I'm giving him fire. Because I will never say a bad thing. That seems to be popular right now with everyone in the studio. I'm going, no. I don't feel like, it's on theme, but, OK. It's not. Well, OK, my interpretation-- it turns out this is what he actually was going for-- is that aging is art, which I love that concept. All right. I'm going to get canceled now. No, you won't. There you go. Bad Bunny loves everyone.
