Army recruit contracts flesh-eating disease at basic training
Dez Del Barba, a 21-year-old who enlisted in the California National Guard late last year and reported to Fort Benning for basic training, had his left leg amputated above the knee after contracting necrotizing fasciitis, WRBL reports. His father says it could have been prevented.
