And what was her response? She said they're in the basement.

And at that time, she didn't tell you that they needed help or they were in danger or they were injured, correct? Correct. So after he found his wife lying on the ground in the backyard, Liz, that's when he picked up the phone. He called 911. He knew something had gone wrong. That 911 call is something that we listened to in court today. And I have to say, it was extremely emotional, extremely traumatic for everyone in the room, including, of course, Lindsay Clancy, who, by the way, heard that phone call today for the very first time. In that call, you hear Patrick describing her injuries to the operator on the phone, talking about some of the wounds to her neck as well as to her wrists. And then he also says at some point when paramedics arrived that he's going to go down to the basement to check on the children. You hear all of in this call. And, unfortunately, we cannot share this with you because of a court order, Liz. But when he goes down to the basement, that's really the tough part here. You hear the moment he sees those three children, his three children with those exercise bands wrapped around their necks. You hear him shrieking. You hear him wailing for several minutes. And the operator, that 911 operator, Liz, is still on the phone at that point, and they're heard asking several times, what happened? What happened? And ultimately he says to the operator, she killed the kids. It's really one of the most traumatic moments that we heard in court today, that moment where he realized what had happened to his three children. He later testified, Liz, about the mental health around Lindsay in the weeks and the months leading up to what happened that night in January of 2023. And he also described her as a very caring and doting mother. This is going to be something that we hear more about, I'm sure, in the coming days and weeks. We'll hear from doctors as well who will also speak about Lindsay Clancy's mental health leading up to what happened that day in January, including, of course, the medications that she was prescribed. But, ultimately, what the jurors here are charged with, Liz, is deciding not whether Lindsay Clancy killed her three children, whether or not she should be held criminally responsible here.

It is such an excruciating trial to talk about, Shanelle. I'm grateful that those tapes were not released to the public because the details of this case are horrific enough. Shanelle Kaul, thank you so much for that update and for following this case for us.
