Dallas to repaint decorative crosswalks after Abbott bans “political markings”
The City of Dallas says it will remove all decorative and rainbow‑painted crosswalks following an order from Governor Greg Abbott directing cities to eliminate any “political markings” on crosswalks or risk losing state transportation funding. Dallas requested an exemption but was denied. City officials say roughly thirty decorative crosswalks will be repainted with standard white striping within the next three months.
